Robert Lardus BIOGRAPHY

Studied arts and product design in Poland and the USA. He practices painting, drawing, computer graphics and photography. Recent projects come from the fascination of multi sensual perception and the idea of synesthetic metaphors – abstractly combined multi sensual experiences.

He has exhibited his artworks at individual and collective exhibitions in Poland, Sweden, France, Spain and Belgium. He participated in art fairs and salons in Toulouse, France, Warsaw, Poland, Luxembourg, Brussel, Belgium and Art Fair Carrousel du Louvre, Paris, France

Robert lives in a world of forms and colors. He cultivates his individual perception of the world, looking for simple, but sumptuous beauty. His technique is based on layers and texture paint. Robert’s artworks can be associated with richly woven renaissance tapestry in which the colors are distilled from the experiences of multiple senses. 

Lardus is fascinated by process painting. He invented dozens of original painting techniques. His “HUMANOGRAPHY” combines the idea of writing abstract characters with icons depicting the human being as individual or submerged in a community.

The concept for the works of the DYSMORPHOPHOBIA series. He wants the images to be detached from associations, to create surprising compositions with the richness of colorful and formal combinations.By this abstract acrylic painting, he wants to „discuss” the idea of perceiving and inderstanding beauty.

Lardus in the hard-edge painted POLIPROFILES series excels at suggestion. In science, this mechanism is called the left-hemisphere world interpreter. Without interpreting images, without judging, evaluating and analyzing – there is no art. The works do not carry an emotional charge until they are interpreted. We, the viewers, give them meaning. After a moment of staring, we will see animals, plants, creatures, objects, faces, whole figures.

In my work, I try to capture what arises in my mind: thoughts, memories, dreams, fears. There are not always beautiful, I often want to depict ugliness. They are not always valuable, because often they arise from low motivations. For me, painting is a dialogue between the artist and his work. I can start the picture with an idea, still the finale can be an absolute surprise to me. It is best to listen to your inner you instead of imposing on the image in advance what it should look like.

Lardus works exclusively in abstract painting. In his works, he does not impose his vision, he does not speak directly. The artist creates surprising, changeable and changing interpretations. They are the focus of Lardus’ artistic approach. Without the interpretation of images, without judging, evaluating and analyzing, art is only decoration, it does not carry value. It has no emotional charge until one begins to perceive the work individually and with commitment. We, the viewers, give meaning to paintings and sculptures. We turn them into art.

The painter enjoys his creativity. He’s playing with it. He writes down his observations colorfully and in formal rigor. Each image is a specific idea, a clear message that drives it.
